There are many different groups that have combined elements of latin music with jazz in different ways - resulting in a wide range of styles falling under the heading "latin-jazz." Trio Nuevo is no exception. The combination of widely varied influences and backgrounds of all of these players results in their own unique musical blend.

Dave Askren

Dave has performed with a variety of jazz/latin jazz/instrumental artists, including Bob Moses, Antonio Hart, Delfeayo Marsalis, Hendrik Muerkins, Stuart Hamm, Bruce Arnold, Bobby Shew, "Rhubumba", Sal Cracciolo, Jimmy Branly, Joey DeLeon Jr, David King and Reid Anderson (The Bad Plus), Ben Schacter, Gray Sargent, Kevin Eubanks, Gary Foster, Tony Rizzi's "Wire Choir" with Pete Christlieb; Mike Vax, as well as commercial recording artists including Marilyn McCoo, Latoya Jackson, Linda Hopkins, Little Anthony, The Coasters, The Platters, The Diamonds, The Drifters, The Marvelletes, Brenton Wood, Kenny Hamber...

Eddie Resto

Eddie has played bass with a who's who of the latin jazz world including Mongo Santamaria, Eddie (as well as Charlie) Plamieri, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Willie Colon/Ruben Blades, Hilton Ruiz, Jorge Dalto, and Ray Barretto, as well as "straight ahead" artists such as Max Roach, Sonny Stitt and Kenny Kirkland.

Walter Rodriguez

An In-demand L.A. based drummer and percussionist, Walter's resume includes Arturo Sandoval, Alex Acuña, Yanni, Herb Alpert and Strunz & Farah, as well as as long list of CD and film credits.

Ramon Banda

Previously a longtime member of the Poncho Sanchez band, the versatile Ramon is a mainstay of the L.A. latin jazz scene with his Banda Brothers band. His credits also include Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Cal Tjader, Freddie Hubbard, Mongo Santamaria, Celia Cruz, Eddie Harris, Joey De Francesco, Arturo Sandoval and Terence Blanchard.
